Popularly known as the T-Wolves, the Minnesota Timberwolves play in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in NBA. The team was established in 1989 and is currently owned by Glen Taylor. The Timberwolves play their home games at the Target Center.
The Timberwolves, during their early expansion years, struggled just as any other expansion team. But in the 1995 NBA Draft, they acquired Kevin Garnett and their performance suddenly improved. They made it to the playoffs 8 times from 1999 to 2004, consecutively. The Timberwolves lost in the first round in the first seven attempts, but finally in 2004, they won their first division title and advanced to the finals. Garnett was the Most Valuable Player for that season. Since 2004, Timberwolves have not made it yet to another postseason, and have been struggling hard to rebuild the team after they lost Garnett in 2007, to the Boston Celtics.
The debut of the Timberwolves was in 1989 and they lost to the Seattle Supersonics. They made their home debut 5 days later, and lost again to eth Chicago Bulls. The Timberwolves beat the Philadelphia 76ers just 2 nights later at a home game. The team used to play at the Metrodome before they shifted to Target Center. The Metrodome drew large crowds for the Timberwolves, and in 1990, they attracted about 1 millions fans for a Timberwolves vs. Nuggets game, where they lost to the Nuggets 99-98.
During the next season, the team moved into Target Center which has remained their home. After the move their performance improved, but the head coach Bill Musselman was fired. The next NBA season was a lot worse. Jimmy Rodgers, the ex-Celtics coach, could not do much to improve the game.
Wins continued to elude the Timberwolves, but after the acquisition of Kevin Garnett, the team had many wins. Kevin Garnett is with the Celtics now, and the team has been rebuilding since his loss. But are they prepared enough?
