Warriors vs Clippers
The Golden State Warriors have a long history in the league, as they have been a part of the game since 1946.
When they were founded, they were the Philadelphia Warriors , a charter member of the Basketball Association of America owned by Peter Tyrrell. Until 1962, they remained a part of Philadelphia.
With the team's relocation in 1962 to San Francisco, California, they became the San Francisco Warriors until 1971 and later changed their names to Golden State Warriors.
The Oracle Arena has been the home turf of the Warriors, since 1966. When the Oracle Arena was being remodeled, they played for one year at San Jose, California .
Wins of Golden State Warriors
In their combined history, they have had three wins to their credit. The important one was the win against the Chicago Stags during their inaugural 1946-47 season. The second win was during the 1955-56 season. The team then had great players Paul Arizin , Michael Bryson and Neil Johnston all of whom later became Hall of Famers.
With “"Wilt the Stilt," Wilt Chamberlain in the team, the Warriors went on a rampage shattering many NBA Records. He holds the record for scoring 100 points in a single game, one of the most memorable and talked about events in NBA history.
Relocation to San Francisco
With Franklin Mieuli purchasing the major shares of the team, they were relocated to San Francisco, becoming the San Francisco Warriors in 1962. The home games were then played at the Cow Palace in Daly City from 1962–64 and at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium from 1964–66. Their last season as the San Francisco Warriors, 1979-71 they played their home games from Oakland Coliseum Arena .
The Golden State Warriors
The 1971-72 seasons saw the team changing their name to the Golden State Warriors, with Oakland as their home turf and playing a few games at San Diego. They now carry the nickname of their “golden state” – California.
A New Dawn
From 2010 onwards, the Warriors have been in the news with many new changes not just in their uniforms and logos but also in the team.
They have many new players in the team, including Ekpe Udoh , David Lee and Dorell Wright . There was an ownership change with Peter Guber of Mandalay Entertainment and his partner Joe Lacob buying the Franchise from Chris Cohan. However, the signing still continued. Jeremy Lin and Louis Amundson were also added to the team. Keith Smart is their new Head Coach.
The Warriors in their new avatars are on a record breaking spree with Dorell Wright making and breaking most of them.
